One of my favorite features of the parks is the incredible breadth of native wildlife. To reflect this, I created silhouettes of the flora and fauna that occupy the water, earth, and skies of the Twin Cities. In celebrating the interconnectedness of these living creatures, each figure participates in keeping the balance of the larger image.

The image was hand cut from transparency paper and printed by rolling oil-based relief ink over the transparency on Bristol board underneath. This method creates a lovely fuzzy, organic texture that softens the rigidity of the graphic composition and gives the print a hand painted feel. No two prints were inked in exactly the same pattern, creating individual textures that mimic the biodiversity of our parks.
