I chose to create a poster of a thistle flower with blood dripping from its thorns to represent Chico Mendes’ quote. The thistle, often seen as both resilient and invasive, reflects the strength of marginalized communities who continue to resist exploitation despite being dismissed. To me, my illustration represents the fact that environmental justice cannot exist apart from social justice, and that true change requires acknowledging the struggles and sacrifices of those most affected.
