The fountain in Thomas Lowry Park serves as a gathering place for neighbors. If the park is empty, I love to sit by the water and listen to the gurgling pools, and to the birds singing. If it’s a busy day at the park, I will often run across neighbors and friends and pause to sit and chat for a bit. A well-designed park draws people in, feels abundantly safe, provides many comfortable places to sit, and builds a sense of community and belonging, providing a much needed respite within the city.
