Turtle World II

In June, I visited Wirth Lake at Theodore Wirth Regional Park. I walked across the water on the boardwalk and looked down to see a painted turtle (Chrysemys picta) making his way through the lily pads and fish. Everything was so green and bright — it really felt like a perfect moment. Since then, I’ve loved looking for turtles all over the Minneapolis lakes and reporting them to the Minneapolis Report-A-Turtle survey, which focuses on learning where and when turtles are found, and guiding efforts to protect them at critical locations in Minneapolis.
